In getting ready for the SRR and an up coming IBA 50CC attempt, I was looking for a waterproof gear bag. I looking at what others were using with both within the motorcycle community and other outdoor activity groups. I found the Ortlieb Rack-Pack on several sites and it looked to be high quality and had a unique opening for packing in comparison to the other dry bags. I settled the the X-Large size (28 x 15.7 x 15.7) what I really like about this bag is that it loads from the side instead of from the end like most bags. Image Image
I was able to fit my tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, chair, some other misc gear and cloths inside. The ride up to the SRR was a little wet on Friday but all of my gear stayed dry. It fit very nicely across the back seat over the saddlebags of my R1100RS. If you are looking for a new gear bag I would highly recommend this bag.
Here's a couple of links if you want to look at more details.

I've used one of these bags for 12 years both on the bike and also as checked baggage on a plane. Just now starting to show signs of wear (at the rolled edge where it is most stressed). Never any leakage and easy to attach to bike with included straps and a heavy duty back-up bungee. Highly recommended. Scott

I bought one from REI, a little cheaper (not much) but same concept. It opens up on the top. It's a nice way to carry and keep your gear dry!

Max would fit in there quite nicely too. Need airholes though.
