Marlinton, WV - Been there?

Postby markf » Sat Jul 19, 2008 7:18 pm

I'm heading back to WV this fall or next spring. Everytime time I've been I didn't make it to Marlinton. So what is it like? Is a nice small town Main Street kinda place or just another Walmart & Starbucks town? While we are at how is Berkley Springs, too? I think I'll need a good soaking.

if you go to Berkley Springs, head west on Rt. 9 a few miles and see this:

I've never stayed there, but enjoy riding out that way.

Beautiful town, in the middle of awesome roads. If you go there, stay at the Old Clark Inn - a bed & breakfast that is owned my motorcyclists (not the Harley type either). It's right in town, within walking distance of all the good restaurants.

They have a fall festival sometime in September.

I've been to Marlinton, not really a very "cute" town IIRC.

Lots and lots of fantastic roads around it though.

Berkely Springs is a bit more polished and has two or three restaurants to eat at, although none of them are really remarkable.

Thanks. I think there is a wine & food, a beer & BBQ and a MC thing all at different times, maybe at Snowshoe.
