loose rear wheel bolts

Has anyone notices loose rear wheel bolts on their R or K1100 rear wheels? Is my K unusual in that the bolts have loosened a couple times since I got it?

Never had the problem. Are you sure that all parts are installed - including any spacers? Do you torque your bolts with torque wrench?

Only bolt I ever had any problem with was the lower shock bolt where the threaded insert in the aluminum rear hub actually loosened up - had to replace the entire rear housing.

Are you using any kind of thread treatment like Never-Sieze? If so, and you have this problem, clean ALL of it off and try again. These bolts (and the hub threads) should be clean and dry.

If the threads are clean and dry, and the bolts are torqued to spec (usually about 75 ft-lb) they simply should not loosen. Tell us if this is actually the case.
