2001 BMW 1200 lt

Postby Max » Thu Jul 04, 2019 1:38 am

I have just bought this bike. Last owner did not have time to explain anything so I have a lot of questions. I have a 2002 GS and it is so much simple than lt

Only problem I had so far is that ABS lights flash alternately 1Hz. I searched that code and it should be a low fluid level in ABS unit. Where is that unit located because I can not find anything about it in repair manual.

Second question is about central stand, how do I know is it electrical powered or not?

Third is that I do not know how to operate reverse, the knob on the side will not engage to reverse marking, I managed it when I got the bike but now it does not wan to move in horizontal position.

I also have a lot of questions about radio, connectors and where to get power to charge my phone?

If someone had or has that model I d appreciate some inputs.

Thanks,

Max

An '01 may have ABS2 or Integral ABS. What's your month/year of production? If you hear a "clank-clank" as you pull away, it's ABS2 (like your GS) although alternating lights would prevent that. If you hear an electric motor whine then it's iABS. ABS2 has solid toothed rings on the wheels and iABS has slotted ones.

The powered centerstand (EHKS) didn't arrive until 2005.

Roll the bike back and forth a bit (in neutral) to help engage reverse.

My lt is 2001, do not what month. Thanks for answers, I will try the rocking to get it engaged in reverse.

I think it has integral abs. There is no whining sound so I do not think there is assisted braking. I will not know till I get the plastic off and look at it I guess. It has teeth on front ring so prolly integrated abs.
