Got a Tech Question? Know something about BMWs?

Finally got the time, and nerve, to use the stripper. Believe it or not, I have never really tried it. I should have known it would work well, and easily. Just one panel, but I am very impressed. This is just an hour, and I was prepared to leave it sit all night.

I will be working the rest of the frame, and fenders, over the next week or so. I have high hopes.

More stripping done, the bike, not me thank doG!

As you can see there is significant rust, but in most cases it is in small areas. I plan to patch some, and fill other areas with a metal filler.

Then I set up for the next round tomorrow.

Snuck out at lunch to peal some more paint, and clean up some rust!

Making decent progress. This first part was the hard part, the rest should be easier. (I just jinxed myself!)

Final bit of stripping, and of course the hardest. Seems a few pieces are powder coated, so sanding is the only way to get them to metal.

Tomorrow I finish sanding and start sealing the bare metal before it begins to rust, more.

Finally done stripping. I have to say, striping is definitely not my thing.

Next, some metal repair, rust patching and priming.

Then I have to decide if I am really going to make it an e-Scooter or not.

Spent 2+ hours cleaning up the worst of the stripping/grinding dust! I hate cleaning, but love the result!

BTW Grinding dust goes EVERYWHERE! It is a serious PITS to get cleaned up. Sadly, with priming, sanding, priming again, sanding, and filling, sanding, plus priming and sanding, this is just the beginning of the PITA!

Might I suggest that you do the grinding and sanding inside your make shift paint booth.

Too much work to clean it for paint after! :-)

Some CAD (cardboard/foamboard Assisted Drafting) prefabrication testing to see what size battery I can make fit in my potential E-Vespa project.

I've got a guy who has done this giving me advice, so this should help.

I could also go with a 10X4X6 rectangle, or a 5X4X11 rectangle, but trying to get the biggest battery possible, and the wedge shape is common to bicycles, so I am hoping for that!

Other data on the potential bike:
Motor is QS 205 10 inch hub motor 72v 4000W
Battery is 72v 24.5 Ah rectangle from Em3EV
Controller Kelly Controls KLS-H 7245

Some bodywork on my Vespa project. Welded a patch to cover the damage, and used POR 15 seam sealer to touch up the rusty areas. Tomorrow I will patch a bad spot on the bottom of the frame.
