Brake PAD MIN Thickness

Postby thanatos1224 » Sun Oct 07, 2018 6:38 pm

For EBC Pads (R1200GSW), does anyone know what the minimum thickness is 1mm? I ask as I am ordering stuff for some TLC scheduled for later this winter.

Thank You...

I usually replace them when the wear indicators are still barely visible. Recently, the inspection station (a cage garage) wanted to fail me for "thin" pads but he let it go. FWIW, the Virginia State Police Inspection manual says brake pads must be 1/16" minimum thickness. (~1.6 mm).

Do not play with min thickness. Glue that holds the metal and abrasive pad can fail if you brake for a longer period. Piece of pad can break and wedge. You can lose your brakes and crash. Brakes pads are cheap, just change them asap, specially front ones.
