installing XM radio on Garmin 665LM?

Postby STATMATT » Fri May 08, 2015 2:14 pm

Just bought a Garmin 665LM. I was wondering has anyone installed the XM radio GXM 40 Antenna for XM satellite signals. The cord seems long. I am putting it on an F650GS, would it be possible to route it so that it goes under the or does the antenna need a view of the sky.

Thank You?

The antenna needs a view of the sky. The antenna is actually the whole radio. The 665 only acts as the interface for you. I put my GXM40 right above the 665 and coiled up the cord wit a zip tie. I don't remember where I got it but I used a bracket made for holding the GXM40. I found one like it here. http://www.ascycles.com/detail.aspx?ID=47566

I agree. I have the GXM 30 and 40 series on my Garmins and the circular antenna needs clear view of the sky to function properly. I have similar setup using a mounting bracket from RAM mounts to attach the GXM 40 behind and above the Garmin unit.
