Received a used Jesse Top Case bought from the Flea Market and installed it on the stock NON-Jesse Rack with his home-created plate.

I need to clean up the mount and paint it, then add some reflectivity to the case, but looks good and is solid now.

Finished swapping out my latches on my Jesse panniers.

Before:

Got these for $6 each, keyed alike:

Drilled and installed the new ones, all five of them:

They look way better, close much easier, and will not damage the pain like the Jesse locks will. I think they are just as secure.

Since it was a total washout here in Va Beach and I didn't make it up to Morton's GS Day, I spent time IN the garage getting the 1150 GSA ready for sale. Cleaned out all my stuff and removed a couple of farkles.

Mounted my Zumo 550 on the wethead GSA. It's powered directly from the battery at the moment. This winter I'll figure out a plan for power distribution etc. The Nav V that came with the bike, a used 2014, seems to be hit or miss on whether it will power up in the cradle, or not.

P.S. - What's the appropriate procedure for removing the plastic bit that runs over the top of the tank on a wethead GSA???

I still have to

Call Garmin on the Nav V. They have had similar issues which usually result in a free replacement.

If you want to replace the air filter, you can do it like this: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/2 ... l.1035465/

Thanks Jim,

I was looking for a route to run the power cable to my Z550 to the battery, but ended up routing over the right side jug for now. Can the top piece come off solo? or do you have take the side panels off first?

It can, by loosening the sides and spreading them.

New battery and a pig tail for the battery tender.

Only took the left side Tupperware off so connecting the wires to the terminals was a bit tight.

Reinstalling the Tupperware was easier this time but the crash bars are still a PITA.

Nasty day out, and I had to work, so I did this after work. A little Carbon Fiber Wrap. I started with the small piece to see if I could do it:

Not pro quality, but looks decent, so I did another:

Still not bad, so one more:

I'm totally satisfied. It isn't perfect, but definitely good enough.

Next, the big silver panels:

Hopefully tomorrow.

The side panels were a LOT harder, but I think they came out pretty good. The bike, to me, looks a hell of a lot better. I never liked the silver side panels!

Friday the 13th; while backing out of the garage this AM the rear felt mushy. Went back and put the bike on the center stand.
Kicked the rear and it was definitely soft. Spotted the shiny head of a small brad. Pulled it out and felt the rest of the air bleeding out.
Plugged the hole. The plug is holding so it should be good enough until I get to BUA in the AM for a new tire.

Been looking and not finding many posts on message board lately, and after viewing JVB's interesting, helpful and continuing thread . . .

I nominate Jim as our club's Greatest Technical Contributor of the Year.

Any seconds??

I think you would find that I am not all that popular with some of the club members, but thanks for the vote of confidence. Not that long ago, a couple years, this forum was pulling in upwards of 100 posts a day. Now it is closer to 100 posts a month. It does make me sad to see it decline so much!

What kind of paint did you use? I have some "wear" on my older Jesse bags on my F650 that I'd like to finish up. It's definitely a rough / matte finish (straight powder coat?) Where I think the newer ones have a clear coat gloss on them.

Anyway, what did you use?

More of a what (will) do you in your (non-) garage: my winter project is shipping my shock ESA shocks off to the Beemer Shop for the Wilbers rebuild. Having reviewed the procedure, removing and re-installing the front shock looks pretty fiddly.
