Bluetooth on the 2014 R1200RT

Postby rfranzel » Sun Apr 13, 2014 8:55 pm

Hi All,

To those of you who have already taken possession of the 2014 R1200RT, I have a question about your experience with the audio system. I saw a review which states, "The sound quality is excellent but, disappointingly, you can’t connect a mobile phone via Bluetooth. While the system has Bluetooth, it only works as an output to a headset, not as an input to play music from another device.".

Have any of you been able to use your phone to your helmet's Bluetooth via the bike's Bluetooth interface?

If not can you still connect your phone to the GPS, and let the GPS relay the phone to the helmet?

Thanks for any insights you can provide.

Best...

I don't think things have changed too much on the BT end of the scale so I think that you have read is correct.

My wife & I use the SENA bluetooth system on our helmets. We pair her phone directly to the SENA unit, and her 12RT to the Sena as a Media input which allows her to listen to the bikes radio/sirus and GPS instructions from her BMW NAV-IV unit.

I can't contribute to the discussion on the bluetooth stuff, but I rode a '14 R12RT on Saturday and it was SWEEEEEEEET! (except for that weird turn signal switch)

Thanks for the replies!

I rode the 2014 R1200RT on Saturday too and thought it was a hoot. Planned to buy it. Now I'm not so sure. Is it really THAT much better than the 2012 model?

My BT headset is an Interphone F4 which has served me well. It does not, however, allow me to simultaneously connect to 2 devices. I can connect to my phone or to my GPS. When I connect to the GPS, the phone connects to the Zumo, so I can make calls in both setups. I thought the SENA SMH-10 was similar, but the new 20 blows it out of the water.

Thanks again!
