Welcome to the 2007 SRR Archive. All of 2007, on one nifty page.

Have you ever fancied yourself competing in the Iron Butt Rally? Overwhelmed at the thought of riding for 11 straight days, averaging 1,000 miles a day while searching for strange things and trying to consistently follow a bunch of rules? Just curious about how such an event is run? Or maybe you’re just looking for something fun to do on Saturday afternoon during the Square Route Rally? Well, Miss Kitty has just the thing for you!
Ed Phelps, Chaz Fisher, Tim VanVranken and I are planning a Scavenger Hunt for attendees of this year’s Square Route Rally. The Hunt will be similar in format to the Iron Butt Rally, but MUCH MUCH MUCH shorter! In other words, you will be given a list of bonus locations with corresponding point values. Your goal is to gather as many points as you can within the rules of the rally. All participants must be registered for the Square Route Rally – there is no additional charge, but you must pre-register for the Scavenger Hunt – which means you need to pre-register for the rally as well! Registration is very simple – on the form to register for the Square Route Rally, there will be an area for you to complete if you plan to participate in the Scavenger Hunt. PLEASE make sure that you provide complete and legible information so that I can contact you!
The event is limited to a total of 33 bikes in two categories: solo rider and two-up. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each category. We have not reached our 33 bike cap, so there’s still time to sign up if you are interested.
It is critical to note - All registrations for the rally and Scavenger Hunt must be received no later than May 19th to participate in the Scavenger Hunt.
All riders (and passengers) will be required to complete a self-inspection form and waiver prior to participating in the Scavenger Hunt. Copies of these documents will be made available to you soon after you register so that you have time to review them prior to your arrival at the Square Route Rally.
When you arrive to Camp West Mar (rally location), let the folks at the registration table know that you are participating in The Hunt so that you can see me or my designated minion to submit your waiver and self inspection forms. I would appreciate getting as many of these forms taken care of on Friday night (6/1/2007) as possible. Remember that you MUST be a REGISTERED attendee of the SRR rally prior to participating in The Scavenger Hunt
The schedule is as follows:
While a GPS can be very helpful, it is not required. Paper maps, including a more detailed street atlas (similar to DeLorme’s) have worked just fine for me in more than one event. There will NOT be photographs required to successfully obtain points, though you may wish to bring a camera for your own personal use
Group communication regarding the scavenger hunt will take place via email. I can be reached for questions about The Scavenger Hunt at gskitty@comcast.net. Or, on the club’s message board, you are welcome to PM me – my ID is Hello Kitty. There is sure to be a thread on the message boards as well. However, all formal communications from The Mistress will take place via email.
Last pointer – the most important skill to be successful in the Scavenger Hunt will be reading comprehension… ![]()
