Volunteer: Setup

Postby bdimon » Wed Apr 04, 2018 9:49 pm

It's time to sign up to volunteer for the rally. Pick something to volunteer for and then choose the time you want to do it.

This thread is for Setup and Clean up. We need help to set up on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. We also need help to pack up on Sunday.

Reply to this thread with the day you can help.

See you at the rally!

I'll be up Thursday to help with setup as needed, and can get coffee set up for all three days since I'm an early riser and have done it past years with both types of coffee makers, both percolator and the large multipot one they have.

At this early date, we plan to arrive apres Noon on Thurs to assist in setting up in any way possible.

We'll help at registration & Tee-shirt sales, and in the Tiki Bar when necessary.

Hope the SRR Management is organizing another Group Tour at Antietam Nat'l Battlefield (over near Shepherdstown WV -- https://www.nps.gov/anti/index.htm). Gettysburg was a 'good start' in initiating a real, Instructional M/C group tour last June [IMHO]. The group tour cost some real pocket change, but it made things much more meaningful! MAYBE, if all goes well, we can try the same thing next year in downtown Harper's Ferry, WV!!!

Anyone else want to chime in?

As usual, I'll be there Thursday to help with setup.

Bruce, where is the stuff that was moved from the old storage box?

It's in the nice shed left by the Girl Scouts. It's dry inside.

Now that the Y is handling things, there's a lot less to do for setup. So, what's left? Put up signs. Prepare rally packets. Set up the bar. Set up coffee/beverage area. Move some tables. Anything else?

Set up beer sales, tee-shirt sales, set up movies, decorate the Tiki Hut, organize the guided rides, …

We will be busy but you are right that the YMCA does much of the work.

Important! The YMCA told us that we may not arrive until Friday morning or else they will charge us for an extra day for the entire campground!

Please do not arrive on Thursday because we cannot afford it. See you on Friday.

We might not have the usual location for the Tiki Hut because they were using it for a workspace. If the space is cleaned up by Friday, great. Otherwise we could consider under the pavilion, inside the mess Hall, or somewhere else. That remains to be seen.

Good thing you posted that; I was planning on being there Thursday. Considering the weather forecast, I'll be happy not to spend the extra time in the rain.

We used to have beer dispensing in the pavilion. It worked fine.

Wherever you put it, leave room for the tech day under the pavilion since it is going to rain, a lot.
