Bolt extraction - Welder needed

Postby eap » Thu Jun 01, 2017 7:44 pm

I need recommendations for a good welder. I have a broken bolt that is broken flush with my engine housing and need a great welder that can weld a nut on the end to extract it. Any recommendations? Maybe something like this...(but more delicate)

Interesting method, but I think an easy-out screw extractor would be easier and less risky to your bike's electronics.

Tried easy out and reverse drilling etc - not so easy and didn't work.

You've tried heat in conjunction with your efforts, right. If the bolt was placed in conjunction with a threadlocker like Loctite Red, you'll want to get it up to 100C with your next Easy Out effort. Even absent the Loctite, the heat may help loosen things up. The engine aluminum will have a higher coefficient of expansion than the steel of the bolt.
