Maryland breakfast ride

Postby HMF » Thu Nov 17, 2016 10:57 pm

Is anyone planning to show at the Old Town Diner this Saturday?
The weather forecast looks pretty decent through the afternoon.

Should be a good day for a ride. It'll give me a chance to test out my short-shift modification.

With a morning of partly sunny skies and a temperature close to 70, it will be a good morning for riding. I will be there too. The rain should hold off until late afternoon.

We had a good size group to enjoy the Old Town Diner's hospitality, followed by some beautiful views from High Rock, PA. Thank you Jerry, for the latter.
The group split for trips to various locales, with several us getting the honor of helping Terri break in her new GS650.
I made it home (just) before the wind started howling, and an hour or two before the rain. Hopefully everyone else did the same.

Great turnout on a beautiful fall morning. Tom, Terri, Tim, Jon, Jerry, Henry, Mark, Ginny, and I enjoyed good food and great company. While my wife and I did not join the ride up to High Rock Overlook, we enjoyed the drive home on the back roads. Hope everybody got home before the winds really kicked up.

It was a pleasant ride from the Old Town Diner up to High Rock (see link to Google route map below). It's always an impressive view from up there.

Big temperature drop after lunching in Shepherdstown, and I got back just as the rain started.

The short shift modification on the shift linkage worked very well. Shifts are much faster and easier and the lever returns to the center position with very little movement of the foot. I recommend it to anyone with this vintage bike ('98 K1200RS). PM me if you want details.
