Boyer Motel & Restaurant to close!

I just heard from one of the Ladyriders that the Boyer Restaurant and Motel are closing. The couple who has run it for years are in failing health apparently, and can no longer keep it going. I'm wondering what will happen to the Cass Mountain Rally! We attended for the first time last summer, and really enjoyed ourselves. We were looking forward to going back next summer to tour the Greenbank Observatory and ride the railroad. I'm hoping someone else will take it over so that the Rally can still be held there.

My understanding is that the husband had a heart attack last year and the family just can't handle running the place any more. It's for sale, and one of my customers is thinking about it. If he can purchase it, the plans he told me about sound pretty awesome, but I don't know if he can pull it off or not. I talked to the owners last year when I was planning our Spring Fling Rally, and decided the situation was in such flux that I couldn't plan on having the event there (the rally ended up being way too big for their place, anyway). I hope my customer, or someone else with good ideas, can keep the place going.

Wow, sad news indeed! I'm sure the folks that put on the Cass Rally will be hunting up some other location if that remains closed, hopefully there are other good sites in part of the state that could host it and have food and lodging near-by/on-site like Yukoms perhaps? (though the food isn't as good there for the most part). I'll be keeping an eye out for news of the Cass event for next year for sure as its been my rally season starter for several years now !

Well it seems that either the owners held on or its been sold and reopened but either way, Cass Rally 2012 is ON! Yeah!
I emailed the club prez this morning and he said the rally is on once again and at the same location which is great news; so I'm deffinately heading down there again this year. Hope to see more BMWBMW folks in attendance this year!
