MOA has info on their site. While originally announced for April 27-29th, they changed the dates.
Registration opens on February 15th.

The BMWMOA Event Calendar still lists the original dates. You have to go to the "Weekend Getaways Are Back!" link/page to see the updated info. FYI

Cheers!

I've been keeping an eye on this one as I've been very interested in attending this event.

Short version: registration is open. I'm registered and signed up for the Saturday morning tour in case you want to join a club member or avoid a particular member (Never!).

FYI

Cheers,
Jim

Jane and I registered for the event. Both of the Saturday tours were sold out -- signed up for the Friday tour (if it happens). Since Jane's new titanium knee is still in break-in mode, we will probably make this a two BMW event, my R1200RT and her 4-wheel Z4. I have never been to Gettysburg (except to drive through with no stops), so we are looking forward to it. We plan on being there for the entire weekend -- just not sure what we will do in detail.

There is a good thread on the BMWMOA forums in the Regional Northeast section on this event. Here's the link: Link to BMWMOA Thread

BMWBMW's very own Rockbottom has posted several ride routes in that thread... including one to the 9/11 Flight 93 memorial and one that includes some covered bridges. I will very likely do some combination of those two Saturday afternoon after the morning tour (I'm signed up) and the evening dinner. I've done a couple of rides based on Rockbottom's various route posts in PA and they were very good rides that I'd do again. I'm currently riding solo in the afternoon but wouldn't mind a rider or two joining me.

Cheers,
Jim

It is so strange that I only saw three other BMWBMW people (Dawn, Tony and Jim) over there, and this is so local to us.

Maybe it is because most of us already visited Gettysburg? Not sure, but you are all welcome to view my photos:

Motorhead, if you're willing to do a write-up of the MOA event for BTS, please let me know - editor@bmwbmw.org. Thanks.

I saw Tony and Avner... I met Dawn at the event... and I ran into John at dinner and we re-introduced ourselves... we believe we had met at Octoberfest. I put up a few photos from the morning Battlefield Tour (Avner was on the tour as well): Battlefield Tour photos.

This was a great event and I really enjoyed the weekend.

Cheers,
Jim

I might not be the best choice because I left on Saturday after the battlefield tour (and after a great lunch with Jim - thanks Jim). I couldn't stay for the dinner and the main event, so perhaps one of the people who did stay can volunteer.

Nice photos Jim! It was worth the trouble of bringing the good camera.
I hope you had a great ride. Can I steal one of them?

Thanks,

My wife Jane and I were also at the event but since I don't know many of the members by sight (just by blog username) we did not "see each other". But that is not surprising since I only see a limited part of the membership at the VA breakfast and I have not been to more than a few meetings and one tech event.

Anyway, we took the tour to Antitiem and Harpers Ferry -- I rode my RT and my wife drove her 4-wheel Beemer Z4. It was a good time and I got to meet a lot of fellow BMW riders although most were from a long ways away. At the banquet they stated that it is there intent to continue these regional events and will most likely do it again at Gettysburg next year. By the way I don't have any photos -- we did not even take a camera with us. SInce this was the first MOA event I have ever attended, I was not sure how it would all work out -- but my concerns were completely misplaced. I found that at every table I sat at everyone was very friendly and easy to talk to. And a lot of persons road a lot further than I did -- from Detroit, Ottawa, Nebraska, Massachusetts - and like Motorhead, only one other person from VA/MD and he is not a BMWBMW member.

It was fun seeing familiar faces at the event and even funnier to see those same faces at the club meeting on Sunday. :D

That was my first time visiting Gettysburg Battlefield and I didn't know how big it was. You build a certain image in your head in school, but when you actually go and see it for yourself, it's a real eye opener. Our guide for Gettysburg battlefield was fellow BMW rider, Sam Booth from Athens, OH. We basically had our very own park ranger and guide in Sam Booth, for those who went on the tours.

I hope to go back again and explore more.

Can someone who attended confirm something for me? When you checked in you likely received a goodie bag - did it include a 1/4 page flyer for our square route rally?
If not, did you see them anywhere?
Thanks!
