Wish I could go cannot get time off. I went up a few years back and it was fantastic. Be sure to check out the Fort on the Ocean at Lewisburg and the Highlands.

And not to miss is the Bell Museum (Alexander Graham) in Baddeck, which is not too far from Louisbourg (similar to Colonial Williamsburg, but much smaller scale). Heck you can't go wrong anywhere in Cape Breton especially if the weather is dry. The constant debate is whether to ride CB clockwise (mountain side) or counterclockwise (ocean side).

I'm not much on museums, but if you're on your trip drop me a line and I'll tell you some great places to visit up there. I lived in Nova Scotia for a little over 5 years and there are few roads there I haven't traveled. My favorites include the Annapolis Valley, Blomidon Inn, Keltic Lodge, Cabot Trail, and the Lower Deck (Celtic pub in Halifax). If you have the time the ferry from N. Sidney over to Newfoundland is the hot ticket. Newfoundland is a pure riders paradise. You can camp in Gros Morne National Park or party in Stephenville after doing the Port au Port Penisula. Or you can move on to St Johns (more bars per capita than any other city in the WORLD). The roads in Nova Scotia aren't as good as they are here in the states. Be prepared for anything, including the weather changes...

I can vouch for the Lower Deck :)

And Halifax altogether. View from my room at the Marriott.

Thanks for all the tips......
I ended up doing only 2 weeks total (4200miles), with only 4 days in Nova Scotia. The rain there was relentless ( I had one pretty day though, with rain in the end). Anyhow, much more rain was in the forecast, so I decided to get out and hit the RA rally in VT. After that to the Adirondacks and the the Finger Lakes.

Looks like we missed each other there. I went over after the RA rally and got the rain for two days. It was OK because the next day I arrived when I sent to go for a ride, I discovered I had somehow killed my battery. :x I since became a partner in Sprint from trying to find help and where I could get a replacement battery. I changed the battery myself. =D> It was a good thing I didn't ride for two day because I just vegged and played tourist in Halifax. I'm heading back there next year and this time, I plan on riding Cabot Trail and visiting more of NS and maybe NF and LAB.

Firebird, I've ridden across Nfld about 10 times and spent 2 months in Stephenville on a project. Went across to Labrador at St Barb once and road to the end of the road... Nfld is quite an adventure!

Agreed. I've been to the Rock four times, and love it. From the Viking settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows...

and Gros Morne National Park...

... of the Avalon Peninsula in the southeast, Newfoundland is one of my favorite places. The people I've met there are among the best anywhere. I tell everyone they need to make the time to go.

When you were at Gros Morne I hope you hiked in and took the fresh water forde boat tour. It's an easy walk and the sights are unreal! I've also camped at Gros Morne. Be sure to visit "Come By Chance" and "Dildo" Nfld. It's worth the picture with the town signs.... Another off the beat road takes you from Stephenville to Burgeo. It's about 110 miles one way. Oh yea, be sure and gas up in Stephenville, there are no gas stops between there and Burgeo. It's a short 2 hour ferry ride from Newfoundland (St Barb) to Labrador (Blanc Sablon), actually, Blanc Sablon is in Quebec but it's a short ride north to Lab. The last time I was there (2001) the pavement ended at Red Bay. I could go on and on. Hope to get back up there again in a few years...

I did that the second time I was there, which was my honeymoon.

No sweat, I've got the 8 gallon Adventure tank on my GS.

I've been up to Labrador City and Wabush, riding overland from Quebec. Now that the connector road is finished between Goose Bay and Cartwright Junction, I want to do the whole loop. I was going to do it after the RA rally this summer, but it was snowing -- yes, snowing -- in Goose Bay then and I didn't want to have to deal with that. With the MOA rally in Pennsylvania next year, I may try to do it then.
