And they finish in 3rd place (pending dyno results)! Richard rode the wheels off the bike to close out the race and move them onto the podium! WOO-HOO!

Congratulations on the podium finish, guys!

I was watching, so to speak, when they got into the lead, and shortly after that they dropped a bunch of positions -- what was that, a combination of leaders' pit stops? I was afraid it might be a mechanical problem, but then they held position so I figured everything was working.

Thanks a lot for the URL, Drew. That was cool.

From www.roadracingworld.com:

Nate Kern and Richard Cooper on the No. 4 BMW R1200 made a late charge to take a third-place overall finish on a street bike that they converted into a race bike.

“I’m still speechless,” Nate Kern said. “From our third rider getting hurt, from our A bike MOTO-ST bike getting absolutely destroyed. I brought my street bike to instruct at Team Hammer. Man, it’s bone stock. Richard Cooper with eight laps to go, we were 12 seconds down. He made up 12 seconds in eight laps.”

Just awesome!

Wish I was there to see it!!! Congratulations Guys! It was kind of cool watching the lap times and trying to figure out what was going on, Iimagine it was like that in the days of ticker tape. The last ten minutes were as incredible as last October's Moto-ST finish. I can't wait to hear the stories.
Both Nate & Richard are incredible racers, feel fortunate they are on our side!!!
Once again thanks & way to go Jeff, Hannah, Steve and the gang at Morton's for giving Coop a ride!

We're expecting him to be racing for us at least at VIR later this year, so stay tuned! We should all have the opportunity to cheer him and Nate on in person!

I talked to Nate last night - he is sooo excited about their racing so far! He is just amazed at their finish on Sunday - he said that bike is HEAVY (his street bike) and the fact that Richard did so well on it is GREAT!! He said it has heated grips, turn signals - everything - completely stock - so it's one heavy bike to race on - BUT - they did it and Placed!!

Way to Go Nate!!! He's very excited to see the BMWBMW group this weekend!!
