June 1-3, 2018 Square Route Rally

Postby bdimon » Wed Dec 27, 2017 8:27 pm

Mark your calendar now! Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - June 1, 2, and 3, 2018 at Camp West Mar.

Big change to Camp West Mar is all-new furniture in the bunkhouses. For the first time, we will let pre-registrants reserve their bunk for either one or two nights.

For us newbies, can someone provide link(s) for previous years to read? Types of planned events, delicious food selection you know the important stuff. Also cost? Cheers David.

Thanks,

Sure thing, David. The URL is http://www.bmwbmw.org/srr which still has last year's info on it. That will soon change.

Info about the site is http://bmwbmw.org/node/14

A write up is in last July's newletter https://sway.com/mbbnTRgCbgwGRF7R

The bunkhouses have new furniture this year!

Thank You, I passed it to the boss and I got two thumbs up. Craft Beer, guided rides and big trees for shade and a Tech Day on site. Cheers.

Hey Team BMWBMW:

What’s the situation regarding cell-reception and internet access?

Andy Dooley brought his own portable Hot Spot device thingy, and that worked like a champ for Karen to swipe peoples' handy banking cards for onsite registration, sales of beer tokens, tee-shirts, and other mundane requirements [using the club's 'Square' device on her personal tablet]. Thing is, I’m thinking of toting my new Apple HomePod so that we can have some background Musac {maybe in the pavilion}.... BUT it must connect to my iTunes acct via an Internet Bluetooth connection...

What’s the latest regarding music: a DJ, or a band, or an iPod, or some other “boombox” besides my HomePod?

Please advise, Us Agers

Last year I had pretty good access to my cell phone, and saw some using internet connections for sales, so I expect it can be good depending on your carrier.

The camp should have wi-fi but it might be a modest extra cost per day. Last year it was on a beta test and I think they asked for $3.50 per day. I will reach out to the YMCA and ask for Wi-fi details.

The Pavilion has been upgraded with a decent sound/PA system. We used it last year for music, I have some playlists loaded on my playlist but can always use more.

I checked it today. T-Mobile has no reception but Verizon has a decent signal.

Wi-Fi is available from Camp West-Mar but it is paid access. $2.95 buys 12 hours worth of connection.

Phil, we will cover the cost for your music setup. Thanks for volunteering to be the DJ.

OK, It's worth giving it a try, then! I'll tote it up there on Thursday. 8)

I have a good variety of tunes:  Both good ole' Rock&Roll & new+old Country!

And Don't Forget our Best Favorite: 'I've Been Everywhere' by Johnny Cash . =D>

Also, appropriately for campers: 'TICKS' by Brad Paisley! #-o
