DC DOT Motorcycle Survey

Postby dcgsrider » Tue Jul 09, 2013 2:34 pm

DDOT is currently running an on-line motorcycle safety questionnaire. It only takes a few minutes to complete. It's for people who ride in the District (even if you do so infrequently.) You need not be a DC resident to participate in the survey. Several of the questions are not terribly well designed, but I think it's worth your time.

When asked how to make riding in DC safer, I said "get all the other vehicles including bicycles off the roads." I also said "you probably think I'm kidding, but I'm not!" :D

I had a few suggestions.
a thin motorcycle only lane or a split lane policy
road debris, spilled salt, and gravel have to be cleaned up.
potholes and roads have to be fixed/maintained.

Dangerous areas for MC I said Dupont Circle and 395 tunnel.

I gave them 6 examples of close calls.

I admited to having 1 20mph+ speeding ticket

Come to think of it, I shouldn't have given them my cell phone number with all that NSA hacking crap! doh!!! but I didn't want them sending me email either.

I suggested fixing the leak in the 395 tunnel that causes a big patch of ice in the winter.
