Bike-to-Bike Chit-Chat

Postby DCMike » Sat Apr 21, 2012 9:12 am

Hey all, I'm in the market to pick up a new helmet-mounted bike-to-bike communicator, my guess it'll be bluetooth.

Suggestions?

Experiences?

Special features/aspects I should be aware of?

Thanks for your help, now go ride! :D

I'm waiting on a Sena SMH-10 to arrive. Hopefully that'll be the ticket for bike-to-bike and rider-to-passenger communication.

I just picked up a Scala Rider G4; so far a great communications system. All of the dealers I spoke to said that was the one to get. I think they're coming out with a G9 soon, but I don't think they've shipped yet.

Hmmm. We've had nothing but trouble with our Scala Rider G4 since we got it last summer. After many discussions and trying several different things, they gave us a service order to return the units to them for checking out. Total frustration. We could hear each other perfectly at a gas station, but after getting as little as 100 yards apart on the road, the sound became so muddy it was unintelligible.

The other popular option is the Sena SMH10B. My wife and I have them for about a year and half now and they work pretty well. They optional mounts for either in helmet speakers, or for the use of your favorite earbuds.

Tried out my SMH-10 today. I rode solo, so no opportunity to try the intercom, but it worked brilliantly with my iPhone and Zumo.

+1 on the Sena SMH 10s - quick install, clear sound, good BT compatibility

There's been some chatter on other forums about the new Schuberth S2 having an integral antenna that increases communication range bike2bike. Apparently the first batches of S2 helmets will NOT have the antenna - why not, I don't know. Scott
