This summer, so far.

Stop and smell the roses, and while you're at it take a picture or two.

This summer, so far.

Hey all, it's been a while since I've been on the boards. Some may remember me as "that one kid with a camera", and yeah I'd say thats a fair assessment.

Last year I had a nasty spill, little damage to me but plenty of damage to my bike. I made a post about it, and I'm sure it's still on here somewhere. All said and done, I had to replace the headlight, the rear brake lever, and the front fork bridge. I broke the windshield mounts and the radiator fairing, but I've yet to find either at a price I'm willing to pay... besides, I can live without them.

I've put about 5,000 miles on my K75 this summer so far (last summer it was oh, maybe 750), just riding around MD and the panhandle of WV. I work usually from 10-3 in Bethesda, then spend the rest of the afternoon riding around with or without my motorcycling friends. I ride almost every day now, and the feeling is just great.

anyways... I've taken a couple of pictures, and I thought I'd share. There's no order, no nothing, its just a bunch of pictures. Enjoy.

(if you have "been there, seen that", make a note of it! thanks)

The entrance to what used to be part of the Granite Nike missile silos... one of the only in Baltimore/DC to be armed with nuclear warheads... but all of the radar systems and silos have since been demolished. Granite, MD

The road block right before the old Henryton Bridge in Henryton, MD... go across the river and you end up at the old Henryton Hospital... a very cool place to take photos, though now over-run by kids with spray paint and matches.

I was thinking '51, maybe '50 (smooth grill bar), but it's hard to say. I had a nice '50 that I bought in '64 from my post commander in Japan.

Yes, that would be a 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe. The Deluxes had the wrap-around bumper extensions. :)

Though WAAAAAEEEEEEEY :D before my time my dad occasionally reminisces fondly of a 52 Chevy he once owned. I believe it was his first car, they're always special.

My first car!

1973 Opel Manta! Cost me $150 and I drove it for two years.

PS I don't miss it, but do think fondly of it.

1940 Olds Model 90 Club Coupe, flathead straight 8. $175 in 1954 (drove it for a year and a half before I was old enough for a license. Never busted.)

(Maybe we should split out these old-car reminiscences?? :? )
(I hijacked someone else's photo and approximated my car's color, a little less yellow and more beige than this. Yes, there is a bit of family resemblance with the later Chevy.)
