sunrise & shore birds

Stop and smell the roses, and while you're at it take a picture or two.

sunrise & shore birds

Here are a few more from my trip that I think came out very nice

the first is an enhansed image of one of the pelican pictures, I think I over did it a bit on the color, but I like the general layout. I also going to try and do this to some others that don't have the forground items (the dune grasses) if I can find any since most of the early AM shot were from the deck right at the top of the dune.

Image

The next one is a shot of a pelican flying right across the sun just a bit fro full sunrise, I'd have to put this one right up there with the one other sunrise pic with the two birds in my other thread from my ride to Cape Fear.

the other sunrise bird shot for comparison

Postcard quality. Nice pics. Although IMO, the first one does have a little too much red.

tanks!

and the truth is.....

as Unity suspected (I noted his winky face on his comment about how cooperative the birds were) it is actually a combination of the fourth pelican from the right in this shot
Image

and this one

ain't photoshop great?

(anyone who's spent any amount of time watching pelicans flying in early morning along the shore knows they generally don't fly that high, they skim the water unless they see a school of fish, in which case they climb then fold their wings and dive, which is pretty cool to watch, and they rarely miss their target!)

Shoreline, Sunrise and I

Postby RocketMan » Mon Apr 30, 2007 9:20 pm

A little something I wrote this AM to go with one of the shots from Cape Fear

Image

Shoreline, Sunrise and I

Sunrise shore birds soaring
Riding the gossamer morning.
Red light warblers and seagulls
Sharing the winds at dawn.

Sea light and shadows
Dance on the breaking tide.
Jewel-tipped ribbons of ocean foam
Making their way to shore.

We share the moment,
In translucent harmony,
On a deserted day-break shore.
The dawn, the seagulls and I.

All too soon the moment passes,
As the sky now brightens to day.
The birds pass into the distance,
And I am left with my memories.
