Stop and smell the roses, and while you're at it take a picture or two.

Alaska trip first images

Just got back from another cruise to Alaska; this time including a helicopter ride and landing on the Taku Glacier, one of the few that are still actively advancing and one of the largest. I took a video lasting almost 2 minutes of the final approach and landing and posted it on youtube here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl0nokcbimo
If you expand the description below the video there are some links to 2 panoramas taken at the landing site several miles up from the face and 4 images of the face where there was a very recent fracture exposing the underlying ice.
On images that display a + sign in the pointer click on the image to get the full size version you can pan around on to see the detail.
Got a ton more images that I need to process, will post them as I go through and edit them and load them on my website.
Weather was fantastic, and while they kept predicting rain most days during the preceding month, we wound up only having only one rainy day, most were sunny and cool so the trip up thru the Glacier National Park allowed us to see and enjoy all the sites and allowed the ship to travel up one additional arm off the main channel. Between this trip thru the park and the last trip where we traveled up Tracy's Arm i think I've seen more glaciers than I ever imagined I would. They are Amazing, simply Amazing.
