Another Rocketman Mini-vacation

Only this one worked out real nice!

Since Jeanne and I both have b-days within 2 days of each other and they happened to fall on this past weekend, I had booked us a room for the weekend up at Big Meadows Lodge on Skyline, one of my favorites places to stay. Since I was going to now be of age to get my Golden Age Pass I will no longer have to pay entrance fees to any Nation Park, Yeah!

Weather was brisk, but mostly sunny and pleasant and we had a nice two day stay at the lodge. Wandering between the great room, tap room and walking about including a short walk to the tallest peak on Skyline Drive.

We had some nice dinners and I got to have several nice Hot Buttered Rum drinks and a good cigar on the lawn out back while enjoying the view of the valley below.

All in all a nice weekend get-a-way much in contrast to our last little vacation. I took my Nikon which hasn't gotten much use of late and as much as I love my little Pen E-P1, there is nothing like a full frame DSLR for clarity and just general satisfaction when shooting.

We did see a few leaves beginning to turn, I shot some nice pano's and another shot of my favorite old tree. Pic's below with links to the pano's on my site.

Enjoy.

It was a great day to ride Skyline yesterday. Coming back from Arkansas, Cindy and I opted to stop over in Staunton on Saturday night and finish our week long trip with a ride up Skyline. With the exception of getting stuck behind an RV on the north end we had a great time.

Nice! Skyline drive is beautiful to ride along during this time of year. Glad you enjoyed it! Take any pictures Ed?

I'm glad you two got away, and to such a beautiful, relaxing place, Jeff. You deserved it after the last "vacation"!!

Very nice pictures. Hoping to see you at Westmar.
