Short Route Between Rt 7 and Rt 50

I took this today on a whim, and while it isn't long, it is absolutely beautiful, just watch out for some downhill decreasing-radius turns!

Looks like a nice road to try after the November mtg, which is in nearby Winchester. Scott

That's Blueridge Mountain Rd, often called Mt Weather Rd.

Mt Weather is one of the country's best-known secret places.

Look close John, it's Mt Carmel on the Rt 50 side and River Rd on the Rt 7 end.

Both are nice roads.

I am also a fan of the Mt Weather Rd, but I'd ridden it several times this summer, so I was looking for something new. On the other side of the ridge there is a nice gravel route that also runs between Rt 7 and Rt 50 (Snickerville TPKE to Foggy Bottom Rd to Ridgeside Rd to Trappe Rd). A big chunk of Trappe Rd is single lane gravel, but it takes you right up to the foot of the Weather Mountain EOC, which is a pretty cool view.

If you take the turn on Feltner (606) It is a pretty decent partially (mostly?) gravel section that goes across a small ridge.

Back a few years ago, I'd go out for an hour or two and just zigzag back and forth between 50 and 7. Lots of good little pig trails in there.
