Elk Creek is a recently opened micro brewery within commuting distance of Penn State University. On the map it is located on Rt 45 approximately 10 miles east of Boalsburg which is located south of State College.

I mention Elk Creek in this section as it would be a destination ride for many club members.
For myself it is a 140 mile, six red light, Sunday morning brunch loop. The added benefit is returning home with a growler of IPA. The highlight of the ride is riding past an Amish farmhouse with a dozen plus buggies unhitched. (While I respect the privacy of the Amish; this view is very comforting.)
While there is a hotel within walking distance the local B&B's are recommended.
On June 28th a local band is playing that calls themselves: Chicken Tractor. While the family farm had 'chicken tractors' I never knew there was a real name for the portable coop until I Googled the bands name.
The band has a myspace page that is worth checking out. My wife and I enjoyed three members performing at the Selinsgrove Brewery a few weeks ago. (If any of you are into micor breweries you need to check this place out: http://www.selinsgrovebrewing.com/.
There are alot of great roads to ride in this immediate area. Rt's 45, 192, 880 are only a few. In this neck of the woods: the opportunity to ride with other BMW riders is as "scarce as hen's teeth".
Drop me a note if any of you would like to ride up this way.
Enjoy
