VA Route 501 from Lynchburg to Glasgow

Has anyone ridden this before?

I was down in the area this past weekend for a mountain marathon and took this route to get home. The stretch from Big Island to Glasgow is amazing - winding, twisting curves with lots of elevation gain and loss while you're overlooking the river and the cliffs/mountains across the river and off to the South. There's also some tight corners between Big Island and Lynchburg as you go up and over a mountain.

BIG fun!

When Jody's clutch cable broke at Peaks of Otter on the BRP, I rode to Hammersley's in Lynchburg for a replacement. I asked the Garmin to plot the shortest route, and man! was that an interesting ride! Probably not as scenic as the twisting river route, just one of those where-the-heck-am-I-going rides.
