I didn't have a chance to post anything after the rally as I had to go out on a two day trip early Monday morning. Just got back last night.
I had a great time at the rally, but made some stupid mistakes also. All the could have, should have, would haves out there just shows how challenging endurance rallies can be. I was way up on time by mid-day and was having a leisurely ride back until I left my rally towel at a checkpoint 12 miles back. So that cost me at least 20 minutes, so I was pressed for time but still had about 15 minutes to spare. Just when you think you're going to make it, something else happens. I got pulled over by VA's finest along with a guy on a sport bike doing wheelies behind me. The officer didn't see the wheelies. He let us both go (after checking our licenses, of course) because he said he couldn't tell who tripped his radar. If it had been just one of us, he would have given a ticket. So there went my hopes for a more competitive score. I made it back exactly at 5:00 PM. No penalty points. I was greatful for not getting the ticket, but I and nearly everyone else could have been pulled over numerous other times throughout the day. Dems de breaks! Still had a wonderful time. I ended up riding 612 miles in 11.5 hours. Just like Nancy said, you learn from your mistakes. Hopefully, next time you won't repeat them. There are still plenty of others out there to make. Got to love it! Hope to see some more of the club there next year.
