stevebmw wrote:I've now gotten the word on signing up people for the Smoke Chasing Grand Tour. If you get me your name BEFORE you register at their website, you'll get a 20% discount on the fee for the tour, as well as any purchases you make (e.g., the Smoke Chasing t-shirt).

Once I get your name, I'll pass it on to the SCGT folks, so they'll know to give you your discount when you check out. Just drop me an e-mail at steve@mortonsbmw.com or let me know here that you want to be on the Morton's BMW team for Smoke Chasing. Mmmmm, BBQ... :D

Registration opens on Wednesday, 1 February 2012 (tomorrow). Sign up is through Ride Master http://rides.jasonjonas.com/index.php (so I expect registration will open at 0100 EST, a short hour and a half from now).

For all those on Team Morton's BMW, from the SCGT Grillmaster:

I have the following for Morton's riders:
Steve Anderson
Roger Sinclair
Jeffery Willis
Jeff Wilson
Robert Stransky
Chaz Fisher
Brian Harvey
Ed Phelps

I will send each a special paypal bill with reduced prices or they can mail
in the discount manual forms.

There's still plenty of time to get on board. Just make sure to e-mail me first so I can give the SCGT folks a heads up to give you the discounts.

I registered this morning...no discounts available to me on Ride Master. That's ok - the money is for a good cause.

If you used PayPal, I believe that's where you'll see the discount as a reduction of the price on your receipt. I've got an e-mail in to the organizers just to make sure.

Anyone how the rules work on the side dishes for teams? Can a team get a side dish (say a few of us grab different states that when put together would qualify) or is the team score just a compilation of the members' individual scores?

My understanding is that each individual is responsible for each bonus side dish, i.e., no grouping of bonuses for team purposes.

Regarding the discount for Team Morton's members, I just got notice from PayPal of my refund for the 20% off my registration and merchandise fees. I expect the rest of you will see those soon, if you haven't already.

Now, all we have to do is plan where we're going, wait for our rally flags, and start making room for some BBQ :D

I hadn't thought of it like that...oh well, thanks for the sammich!

Is anyone interested in a group ride to Augusta at the end of March? The Masters Ride to Eat has been going on for a few years now - I attended last year and it was a lot of fun. Lisa Erbes and other folks from Eddie's Road were also there.

Unless the weather is really bad, I am planning to go back again this year. I thought that it might make a good team event...and we could get BBQ in NC, SC and GA!

Including the only mandatory stop if you want to tag North Carolina -- Ole Time Barbecue in Raleigh. This sounds interesting. I'll have to see how my schedule is looking as we get closer to the end of March :-P

And, speaking of free sammiches, if you sign up for the BBQ Club at Virginia BBQ (http://www.virginiabbq.com/bbqClubSignUp.php), you'll get coupons for free food, discounts on party platters, etc.
