Be safe out there, everybody. It looks like you might have some nasty weather to ride through. Best of luck to everyone!

Um, I think Chaz took 2nd in the mini. Don got hardware from the NY starters, but, don't remember what place. 3rd? I know Bob Lilley won NY, Greg Rice won FL and Corey Neuring won TN. A very nice mentee from the FL starters got hardware, maybe 3rd. Name was Rony something or other. Walt and I played leapfrog with him after the odo check.

Joel Fedorko won for most spectacular leaking Final Drive #-o Sorry Joel, couldn't help it. I hope you sort it out easily and inexpensively.

Walt and I came in 10th and 11th. He kicked my ass in the TDS. He got full points, I was slow and lost about 500 points. Was so worried about being too fast, that I was too slow. Getting stopped for a full cycle at both traffic lights didn't help. :(

Always happy to provide entertainment value :) Bob's hooked me up pretty quick, but when all was said and done... Just part of vacation that's run amok. Can't wait for what happens next. :?

Glad you guys had some fun.

Thanks Nancy! I did well with the TDS challenge as well, losing no points and only 14 seconds off the average. I stuck to 3-4 mph over the limit and did not get snagged at the lights. I didn't expect to place, as I ran a shortened route to get outta dodge early for the ride home. But always eager to hear how the BMWBMW crowd represented. :D

Sorry guys, but a stupid mistake on my part turned a pretty good run into crap. I was doing great until the end of scoring when Rick Miller noticed that the recorded time on my photos was 1 hour off from rally time and deducted 1/2 of all of my points. Turns out that I would have finished 3rd from all the Paris starters. It wouldn't be so bad except that I had checked my camera against my iphone the day before the rally and forgot that I was in central time.

Hey Joel - at least you weren't sleeping. Glad it's fixed and ready to go!

I had fun and I think my "mentee" did too. StattMat rode down from DC on Thursday afternoon and rolled in around 9am CST to start the rally at 9:08am CST. That's a rough way to start a rally, so we just hit a couple of boni and had a good ride. We found an interesting "mystery" guest and had beautiful weather for the ride. With every rally, you always learn something. I hope he continues with this insane fun! :D

I can't wait for next years!! :TheTina:

Yes, I had a great time and am now looking forward to the next one in May... Mason Dixon 2020. Maybe this time I won't be up on a sleep deficit. Although on Wednesday I have to be in Columbia, SC. So I'll come half way up on Wednesday, and then get home by Thursday Afternoon. That'll give me about a day of route planning. And the event starts close to home leaving Dulles at 2:00 to get to Paris by 9am was pushing it big time. For the event we totaled I think 1100 miles, and then for the weekend in its entirety I covered 2200. So I got two photos of my bike spedometer, 14000 and 15000. It was great blowing steam on riding after such a grueling motions hearing (News-flash, the Police cannot search/vandalize your home without a warrant, just in case you didn't know!). On the way home I learned that my rain-gear plan was insufficient, I was soaked through from water going up my jacket and down my waist. I'm looking for a onesie now.

Thanks again Tina for your mentorship on that one, learning the scoring and the recordkeeping would have been really difficult on my own. Route planning would have been a total mess.

I had a great time and will do several more. Maybe next time I can move my score from the bottom quartile to one of the middle ones!

MAtt,

Glad you had fun and will do the MD2020! A word of caution/advice. Not all rallies operate the same way. You really need to read and understand the rules and procedures for each rally. Heck, even year to year, things can change a little in the same rally. Rick can sometimes have particular wording in his bonus locations descriptions, read and understand carefully. Jim is a bit more straightforward. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Rick is trying to trick you, just making sure you're paying attention!

I might visit the finish on Sunday, but will have to see how the weekend is going. In any case, have a great time! Oh yeah, in case you didn't know, the "MD" stands for Massive Downpour!
