What about a weekend ride to LUNCH?

Postby lionlady » Fri May 08, 2015 8:23 am

Since we're waaaaay down south now, I was thinking that maybe choosing a place that is in some really nice riding roads, might be a fun destination ride for a late lunch.

The rides to breakfast mean we've almost got to get up in the dark to be at the meetup destination. Picking someplace sort of in between would mean that folks ride their own ride to the spot and then ride their own rides to get back home or whatever. The main thing being a chance to hang out.

Just wondering.

What about Sperryville, it's kinda in the middle. The Thornton river grille looks good http://www.thorntonrivergrille.com/grille or El Quijote. http://www.elquijotevirginia.com/ If you need to pick up some whisky there's Copper Fox. http://www.copperfox.biz/

The Grille is very good. A group of us rode to brunch there on New Year's this year and it was very nice.

Next question: I can't do Saturdays. Does Sunday work for you folks?

I'm sure Sundays work well for some, not so well for others :) Sunday's often easier for me to break away since Saturdays are usually occupied with various honey-do's and family obligations.

Okay. I've got to double check the family calendar... BUT

how many of you folks are up for this Sunday (5/18)? At the Thornton Grille?

I need to confirm, but tossing it out there.

This Sunday is actually 5/17. I'll still be at Natural Bridge, tidying up after the Spring Fling Rally, and maybe heading west for a couple of days riding in WV. Can't make it this Sunday.

Ooops. This Sunday is out for us as well. Going to Danville for MC races! Then there's the Mason Dixon 20 20, then SRR, yadda yadda.

Let us revisit this discussion with an eye to mid June, perhaps?

So how about this weekend, say Saturday the 23rd around 11~12 then maybe a ride out 211 to Broadway and down 613 thru Singers Glen to 33 then back over the mountains and up 29 to Madison and take the road that gets you back up Sperryville? Or any day this weekend, thou Saturday works best for me, but I'd be flexible.
