silk helmet liner

Postby pbharvey » Mon Jul 17, 2006 5:06 pm

anyone use a silk helmet liner or an under armour skull cap? i hate getting my helmet really sweaty especially since the liner isn't removable. do those silk things make your head hotter or cooler? do they stay put or are they a pain?

I use one all the time. Keeps the helmet funk down.

PS It is a Slik, not silk. Took me forever to get it right. :D

I have trouble finding mine since I got the 'Stich -- it's gotta be in one of those pockets!

When you're gearing up, they're good for keeping the helmet padding from dislodging ear plugs, too.

Slik is a brand name. Also, not only do they cut down on helmet funk, but also help keep down the helmet head. Hair is pretty flat but better then that little mound/wave that is created by helmets.

Yes, CycleGadgets now owns it. When you wear one, you want to get your helmet on quickly so people won't see you looking like this. :P

Yea, the "Little Amish Girl" look is hard to deal with at first. I've come to grips with it, though, and love my Slik. It keeps my enormous ears from being ripped off of my head when putting on my helmet, and does reduce helmet funk. I can also usually find it because I store it in the helmet when not in use. If it's sweaty, I'll keep it out long enough to dry, or wash it; but otherwise it's tucked in there waiting for me and the next ride.

DoWrap makes some funky skull caps. I found one in the parking lot at Bob's a few weeks ago, and like it. http://www.dowrap.com/
