I have read a lot about folks looking for the right seat and making it comfortable for long rides. No one has mentioned one solution right close to home. John Longo runs a small shop in Rockville where he remodels seats and/or makes new ones, that are tailored to each rider. He guarantees a fit, and no pain. I have used him twice -- once he made a completely new pan and seat for my old R1150R (converting two seats into one long old style saddle) which I used for 20,000 miles and loved. Second time he took the cover off the stock seat of my R1200GSA and built it up with new foam, leveled it, made some strategic cuts and smoothing. Now I can stay on that bike for ever. The first job he had to start from scratch and make pan, then add foam and cover, cost me $1,000. The second was a remodeling job using the same seat pan and starting with the existing foam, cost me $ 200, which I thought was a good deal. Best part is he molds the seat to your body size, and needs. Contact is: John Longo, 315C Howard Ave, Rockville MD (301) 762-4373) --
