Anyone have any suggestions on a good bike lift for a 1991 K100LT? Thanks! :D

Mine will hold 1200 pounds, more than enough, and not bad from Harbor Freight. $300, $200 if you catch the right sale.

If you want to buy brand name, www.handy-lift.com will cost between $700-1000.

I priced the steel to build one from scratch. You cannot touch that price.

Jim,

I like everything about that picture except for that Cowboys banner ...

As far as to what kind, I am open to suggestions. I really don't know that pros and cons between a full lift and the ones that lift from the middle only. How do you handle wheel removal on a full lift such as this?

Thanks!

Yeah, I've wondered about that -- thanks for the info!

The Banner belongs to Tina, though I like them too.

The lift has tie-downs so you can unattach the front clamp and allow the bike to go up on the centerstand. Then tie down the front or rear and remove the tire. The rear has a removable pannel that allows you to get the tire off.

It is a decent unit for the price, and more than enough to handle your bike.

Hope this helps?

Yes, that helps a lot, thanks! Good idea re: center stand for tire removal. Hadn't thought of that.

Don't waste your time with the frame lifts. They're not going to work for many models of partially faired bikes or bikes where the engine is an integral part of the frame (most BMWs). I've got the same lift as Jim and it's the bomb. A super deal at twice the price.

Since I already have the floor jack, I bought a copy of these plans. I priced the steel required, and it was much more than the full table lift at Harbor Frieght, so I never built the lift.

I know the thing's quite heavy. How did you get the thing home and set up. It's not a 1-person job is it?

Made my 1st visit to the Toy Store (HF) in Gaithersburg yesterday. The lifts are not stocked but are special order items.
