Tamale Trek 2K13

Postby Wild Pig » Sun Jan 13, 2013 10:45 pm

Following in the footsteps of the great SmokeChasers BBQ tour of 2011 and the well conceived yet poorly executed BurgerTrek debacle of 2012, I have been searching for a new quest for this year. I'm thinking of one word, and that word is tamales.

Wet, dry, boiled, steamed. I'm declaring it open season on any and all tamales. I will be roaming the countryside all year in search of the best. Well, at least until my cardiologist tells me to knock it off.

So, where do I start? Bestow on me your favorite tamale targets. (Anyone recommending a national chain will get a monkey bump.)

Ole.

Nice to see somebody eats something besides BBQ around here!!

I had friggin' amazing tamales at a place in Albuquerque many years ago, before I was a vegetarian. I'll see if I can track down the name of the place for you.

The best I ever had came from NM also, but up in Santa Fe.

It was like eating heaven in a corn husk. With green chilis and a roasted pablano pepper, ice cold beer.........

Great, now I'm hungry.
