I am a big fan of BBQ, particularly pulled pork
I've hit all the regular DC places but frankly none come close to places like Interstate in Memphis or Jones in Marianna, Ar. I did come across one place in Maryland that is worth the ride, they really do it right. It is called Smokeshack BBQ over in Ft. Washington off of 210. It is North Carolina style, and I knew it was a winner right away when I simply ordered a half pound of pulled pork and slaw, and got a bag with the pork, a pint of really good sauce and another of superb mustard slaw, and a half loaf of white bread. The sauce is a NC vinegar based variant, though darker and thicker, happily without the handfuls of salt so many places love to dump in.
These days when I need a good 4-hour ride to clear the cobwebs I head over the Wilson Bridge, down 210 (with a stop for BBQ) then down along the river to Port Tobacco - great ride and great BBQ!
