Great report Rick. As a bass player Geddy was an early hero of mine. I'm gonna send this thread to my brother who's a drummer and thinking about getting a motorcycle.

Wow! I just happened to log in after a long time away from the boards and saw the awesome write-up! I remember us talking about this one coming together when you so graciously helped me fix a flat in your suit and tie. I am still and always will be thankful for your expertise, patience, and camaraderie during that crazy plug (which is still holding!!!)

I am so glad tht the trip happened for you as I could tell it was something you were really looking forward to.

Excellent pictures and write-up as usual. Let me know when we can cruise through Middletown valley (or anywhere for that matter).

OT: That seat has been a true savior for my a$$ and knees as of late. I've been getting really good feedback on the switch from the stock seat and I can't tell you how much my wife likes sitting back there versus the old pillion seat.

Until next time Rick...

What a great ride, and a great story, Rick! It's always interesting to me when a "celebrity" turns out to be a real person. I need to go read Ghost Rider, no doubt about it. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I have another connection to this story - a friend at work is also acquainted with Neil, although they've never had the chance to ride together. (Andy said something about not wanting to take his Harley down those WV dirt roads - ) He's also deeply involved in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, here in Carroll County. Involved enough that RUSH has given him a PRS guitar, autographed by all THREE members of the band, to raffle off for the ACS. Anybody interested? Check out this link: http://www.acsevents.org/relay/westminster/rushraffle .

DogHouse, Chris/Local, Jim, Chaz, & Mo',

Thanks for the "positive feedback"--much appreciated.

Regarding Geddy as a bass player, DogHouse, it wasn't until I saw him in concert that I realized just how well he can play. Previously, I focused on his singing. He also really throws himself into a show (which is very impressive, since I think he's roughly my age!)

I'm glad your tire is still holding up, Chris, and that you like the tall seat for the CS so much. I found it much more comfortable for my knees than the standard seat, and the extra padding helped, too. We'll definitely get together for a ride. Right now, I'm trying to decide whether to go to the Mid-Ohio vintage bike races or not...

Did you actually lose a Jesse bag on your trip, Jim? If so, Major Bummer. I hope there wasn't anything too critical in it (e.g., your mega-toolkit).

I think you would enjoy Ghost Rider a lot, Chaz. It obviously focused on Neil's efforts to find himself, but it was also a well-told riding adventure. And that's great about the autographed Paul Reed Smith guitar for the Westminster cancer society. The PRS that I have plays head and shoulders better than my Les Paul, ES-347, or custom shop Strat. Something tells me I'll be buying a few raffle tickets myself!

My new nephew-in-law gave me a copy of the 2112 album for this past Christmas, Moneill. I wasn't previously familiar with it, but it rapidly became a favorite. I also like their "sympathetic" treatment of the classic sixties rock songs on "Feedback." But I find myself internally hearing the "Snakes and Arrows" songs most often these days. Rush has been incredibly successful decade after decade!

Nah, just a poor attempt at being funny!

Thanks very much for sharing this with us! You are a true gentleman and a scholar!

Marvelous story, Rick. Thank you.

(I've been reading at Ghost Rider for several weeks, as I can't absorb too much of his grief at one time. The ride tale it contains is fantastic.)

I have a Rush photo website called the Rush Photo Archive (http://www.rushphotoarchive.com). I would like to ask if I could use your photos of you and Neil on the road? I hope Neil doesn't object. Please email me your response. metnever@msn.com

Not currently available from NetFlix  I remember watching this on HBO sometime in the mid to late 80s.

WOW! 37,000 hits! I think Rick deserves a new "title" to reflect his ability to draw people to this site!

But we have to do better than that title...
