Tell Us About Your Rides!

41% the distance, 57% the elapsed time, triple the wheels

I just finished a wannabe Iron Butt, but I did it all wrong -- I didn't travel far enough, I didn't ride long enough, and the motorcycle's wheels were the only ones that were not on the ground! (The Eurovan's 2 pair and the trailer's 1 pair were.)

My 1971 Triumph Bonneville (with Marcia and Gary, who bought it new in England), just moments from leaving Phoenix forever.

A while back I posted a smugmug gallery about the bike. (When you reach page 3 of the gallery, dismiss the notion that Marcia and Gary looked younger in 1971.)

If I don't procrastinate and neglect to write it, I plan to post a journal of the trip and some miscellaneous thoughts that occurred to me during the days on the road. Watch this space.

(A "My Bike" entry will follow, once I get the bike running and roadworthy following its 18 years in mothballs! :) )
(Okay: It was 4,571 miles and 6.25 days, of which 1.0 day was spent visiting.)
2002 R1150RT, Silver
Silver, the "cool and aloof" color.
(Road & Track Vol. 56, No.2, p. 19)

1971 Triumph Bonneville, Gold
Gold, the "paying the restorer" color.
(Trust me.)

Jim,
You get the aux lights figured out? Were they draining the battery?

Yes, figured out, no, not draining the battery. My battery is slowly dying of old age an abuse.
