IBA Extreme ride....

Postby BMWGirl » Mon Apr 06, 2015 10:49 am

Well, the iron butt insanity monster struck me again.... This time, he really pushed me! On Saturday morning at o'dark thirty, I packed up my trusty steed, Blitz (R1200GSA) and off we went.

21 hrs and 54minutes later we finally stopped for the night. Bun Burner Gold is now complete!!

I rode from our home near Richmond VA down to Tallahassee FL and back - 1523 miles ridden.

Wow - what a ride! I felt pretty good for most of the trip, had a little bit of an arm issue due to having rotator cuff surgery about a year ago, that arm ached a bit but not enough to stop me!

The BBG is an Iron Butt Association "extreme" ride and I can definitely see why. I've a done a few IBA rides but this one has been the most challenging and really quite fun to accomplish.

Now off to my next ride.... hmmm what will it be?

Wow! I'm wondering if I could stand to get a Saddlesore 1000. The Bun Burner Gold (wouldn't black and blue be more accurate?) is way more than I could do.

:realhappy: Congratulations! You Rock! :realhappy:

And you think I'm nuts! Ha Ha! Awesome accomplishment!

But did you stop for Cajun BBQ at the turn-a-round point since you said you had a whole 2 hours to spare by the time you got home???

Thanks guys... it wasn't too bad of a ride.

Sorry Jeff, but no - no BBQ this time - maybe next time.

Bruce - the SS1K is not bad if you pace yourself and don't stop for too long. I've done several and they do get easier. Let me know if you decide to try one, I'll be your witness

That's awesome!! I'm prepping for the SS1000 on May 2nd. Hopefully, the weather will be fine.

Those extreme-sports kids today are good, but they have it easy. Try falling off of a motorcycle going 70 or 80 miles per hour on asphalt. Believe me, nothing equals it.
