The Ride to Avoid I-95

Postby bdimon » Tue Mar 17, 2015 10:49 pm

After the membership meeting at Morton's BMW, the poor slobs with chores at home had to jump on I-95 to head home. Us lucky ones, ate a wonderful lunch at the Fish N' Grill http://fishngrill.com before looking for a way back to the western suburbs without riding on an Interstate. After we got out of Frederick, we turned into the Spotsylvania battlefield and wandered through the woods. We avoided busy routes 3, 17, and 29, crossing them but not riding on them. The roads still had some of winter's sand but not so bad as to make us worry. Some of the potholes, on the other hand...

This was the first time in years that I led a ride and I made a critical mistake. I forgot to stop for a rest stop. I apologize to those who had to break off from the group. Next ride, I'll take more than the size of the gas tank into account.

If you would like to see where we went, I uploaded the route track into Google Maps.
