bug collecting- rocketman style

Since I know a number the club members have been buying up nice country properties I thought I would search out some nice options for those still in the market..

A nice old place ready for renovation and comes with a school bus ready to take the kids to school

also has a nice pond, not real big but close by the main house

and what a great view!

Another nice home almost ready to move in to, comes fully furnished, or at least the porch is

A secluded retreat, with several out building, a coat of paint and a few new windows and you're all set for the farm you've always wanted to run
Image

Has a nice flower garden next to the driveway
Image

Perhaps you'd like to renovate a barn and turn it into a nice large home?
Here's one just off a major highway with a big silo and smaller barn you could use to store your bikes
Image

think of the stash you could stash in the silo! Wow!
Image

Maybe you'd like something in blue with a nice airy upper story? Then here's the perfect fixer-upper!
Image

Another nice farm potential

Driveway does need some, well, driveway..but its got a gate installed

Came across a nice mural in Luray and yes it really is black and gray

And finally a few shots of the valley from the top of Rt. 675

After I got down to the valley again I decided to go down the road marked Seven Fountains off of 675 to well find the 7 fountains, well not sure what happened to them but they are not there anymore and I have to wonder if maybe, just maybe there never were any? Ya think?? All I found was a hard packed dirt and gravel road that goes nowhere..

All told 230 miles and 6 some hours in the saddle, temps never really got out of the mid 70's, mostly blue skies and great riding. route is here....

Nice ride, Jeff. Bonus points for your driveway comment.

Thanks, Jeff, for posting that ride. The last farm (the one without the driveway) almost looks salvageable. I'm the kind of person who always loves to see the old homes restored. I know you were on 678 and 7 Fountains Road (there looks to be another 7 Fountains Road just a little further on that makes a big loop and comes back to Fort Valley Road--even has a 7 Fountains Lake!), but if you comment further, tell me what roads you were on. I'm getting braver about venturing out alone on the country roads.

RM,

Yep, you've got quite a flair for spotting outstanding properties!

I won't ask how these houses / farms compare to your house, but it does remind me of a story. One time I was helping an SCCA racer named Randy Canfield at Watkins Glen. (He won several SCCA National Championships over the years, racing his highly modified Bugeye Sprite.) He had rented a garage space from the Glen, and, as he looked around, he commented, "Hmmm. My house doesn't have a single floor as level as this one!"

Anyway, I enjoyed your write-up, as always. And I think I used to ride that bus to high school…
