Thanks for sharing the pictures George! I do so miss my Texas home. Loved running through the hill country on a number of occasions. I recognize that restaurant in Alpine, though, it seems to have received a new paint job since last I was there (15 years ago).

Glad you had fun and made it back safe!

Got a few more pics. It's been 43 years since I was in San Antonio and the place has grown a bit. Loop 410 was the outer fringe in those days; now it's the inner loop. Bandera Road was a great twisty 2 lane out into the Hill Country. Now it's 6 lanes of congestion. Remarkably, I was able to find the house in which I rented an apartment, almost by instinct. Birds have a way of finding their way around and they're basically feathered lizards. It must have been the lizard brain in me that did the job. And then I rode down town and found the Alamo.

Old limestone schools. Lotsa limestone in the hills, consequently, lotsa limestone buildings.

George,

Wow, what a great trip! I enjoyed your photos and write-up enormously--thanks for taking the time to post it. Although my wife and I made a big trip to the southwest a few years ago, we somehow managed not to get to a single one of the places you went. Now I desperately want to go back.

I loved the Goldwing trike towing the mini-'57 Chevy. Now that's something you don't see every day!

But, of course, it's the great photos of all the spectacular scenery that really captured my attention. Thanks again,

Rick
