No, Not That Koup
This Coup
I came across this at a house next to a historic mill on Old Auburn Road just east of
Warrington. Next to the mill, now home to an architectural office was an old wooden frame
clap board-sided house being renovated and I have since ridden by to watch its progress.
I was hoping that they would maintain much of its original design, including wooden
siding, but on my last visit I saw they had decided to use modern vinyl siding,
in a really yucky orange to boot, so I won't be taking any more pictures of it!
Anyway, when I dropped by this past Sunday, the owner was sitting on the front porch
and as he saw me taking pictures of the old barn/workhouse next to his and of the "coup"
on wheels, he informed me he was planning on using it as chicken coup.
As I rode off I thought, "You know, if he put some pigs in it and some antenna on
top, he'd have a mobile ham shack!" since to me it looks like a shed/shack
more than a coup, or Koup! Ha Ha!
So here are the rest of the pics I took of old barns/houses on the ride around the back side of the
Marine base near my home.
At one point I came to an open area and off in the distance I saw this, at first I thought it was some
sort of commercial building, but on closer inspection, it turned out to be a residence, what an ugly, pretentious mess!
(I have thing against copy-cat designs that are ill-fitting to their environment and are designed with total disregard to the same.)
As F.L. Wright once said, ( i paraphrase here) Style is not what one should start with, but rather it should come about as a result (or be the end result) of the design.
