Death ray belonging to Ming the Merciless?

Steve,

Yours is the most entertaining guess so far, by a wide margin. My college roommate, however, has correctly identified the device. I'll announce the verdict in another day or two unless someone can come up with the right answer first.

Rick

PS: And where is Flash Gordon when we need him, anyway??

My guess is similar to Steve's- a vaporizer used by Marvin the Martian, of Bugs Bunny fame.

Nice series, Rick. I'd wager the ray gun folks aren't too far off, just that it's a slightly less destructive dental x-ray tube.

Maria & Gene,

Well, Marvin the Martian is right up there with Ming, as good guesses go. But you, Gene, have nailed it! Not only is it an x-ray machine, but it is almost certainly a dental x-ray, having been donated to the museum by a dentist.

Excellent work, all!
