Thanks very much for the update. I don't know the riding preferences of those who will be coming. I ride regardless of the weather; thunderstorms, heavy rain etc. What weather would prevent the ride from taking place?

Sleet and snow - Highly unlikely
Thunderstorms and heavy rain - No Go
Moderate/light to occasional rain - Go

I prefer to schedule rides during good weather days, but will suffer through the occasional passing storm.

Highly recommend the Purple Fiddle in Thomas Wva for lunch. It's located on the south bound side of main Street.

Jose. As we discussed in Clifton last Sunday I will not be able to ride. I have that obligation in Ohio. Wish it were otherwise.

That is true and I will find a way out to either Moorfield or Thomas (any ideas?) to meet up. I am an outcast, banned, barred, and deprived from riding in the great State of VA (until late September). Will head out from MD towards either Sharpsburg or Hancock MD and see where to go from there... Ride safe!

It was good ride. Thanks for creating it, leading it, etc.
Hopefully the ASPCA made it out to fetch the kittens like they said they would.

What a great turn out. Fourteen riders in all. Thirteen starting in Strasburg with the 14th meeting us for lunch in Thomas, WV at the Purple Fiddle. A few of us got an earlier start with breakfast at the Queen Street Diner in Strasburg, while the rest of the pack met at Dunkin Donuts.

The ride out on Rt 48 was a super slab which allowed us to cover a lot of territory. We had a brief stop in Moorefield for a bio break and butt check. Up in the hills we saw quite a few wind turbines.

We overwhelmed the kitchen staff at the Purple Fiddle with our group lunch order, but they got us fed and the food was good. We’ll have to come back later to take in some of the local musical talent.

We weren’t sure of the type of road leading up to the Fairfax Stone and it was a pleasant surprise to ride blacktop all the way to the marker.

The roads on the return trip (Rt 219, Rt 90, Rt 50) were mostly two lanes with lots of sweepers and twisties. It was more fun than Rt 48. Some of the MD and VA riders split off before Winchester, and the remaining six riders stopped off in Purcellville for ice cream at the Tilted Cow.

Enjoyed getting out for lunch with the bunch as I have been sidelined for several weeks due to a sciatica flare up. The 3+;hrs out and 3+ hrs back didn't bother the sciatica a bit  (next time you are in PT ask if they do 'Dry needling' (with or w/o E-stem)!

Scott K, Bob (Bethesda) and Mark (Germantown) and I made up the Maryland contngent. We peeled off to the North at Romney to Greenspring WV and across the low water Potomac toll bridge into Oldtown, MD.

After an ice cream and root beer float at the school house we twisted North again on Bearhill and Old Town roads up to catch historic rout 40 east into Hancock.

Then it was super slab back to the barn for each. I lost Bob at the Urb
ana gas stop (sorry).

With kitties at the Fairfax Stone it was truly a 'cat herdibg' experience for our ride masters Jose and Bruce!- thanks gentlemen!

Great day, out by 7:30AMish and in by 6:3oPMish for a cold brewskie!

Ride safe!
