President's Day Ride

Postby bdimon » Mon Feb 08, 2016 2:05 pm

Here in the metropolitan DC area we are close to president's past and present. Next Monday, February 15, is President's Day and many of us have the day off. Let's string together some presidential sites and find food roads between them.

"Food roads?" Did my autocorrect mess up or read my mind? Darrah's Cafe in Fort Washington sounds appropriate for breakfast on his birthday. Dinner or lunch in Alexandria also is appealing. Maybe near Mount Vernon? Who knows a place?

I have two ideas so far: short and long. The question is how far do you want to ride on a chilly February day? Start with the two options below, long and short. Feel free to edit the map with presidential sites. Add any interesting roads you know of. Express your ideas in this thread and we will finalize the plan this week.

I am leaning toward the shorter ride because I fear the weather may not be good.

Don't believe a forecast that is more than 2 days in the future!

Believe in the sun and it will reveal itself to you! [-o<

Would love to do the short ride, but will have to make a weather call Sat or Sun. I don't have heated gear. If it will be below 40 then I most likely won't ride.

Let's keep these rides for future weekends.

The Washington Post said "On Monday and Tuesday, a nasty mix of winter weather has become an inevitability. We will have snow, we will have ice and we may also have rain."

Ride cancelled. Damn Winter. It will be over soon.
