Looking forward to it. Scott
See you at breakfast Scott.
Dec 4, 2015 ride is in the books! Oldtown, MD _PawPaw WV Runabout
(overview map and info here
https://trips.furkot.com/ts/q9HbnN )
It was 40 degrees when Scott and I met for breakfast at the Old Town Diner in Myersville, Md.
We headed out on the super slab to pick up rustic Rt 40 in Hancock, Md,
Before long, we left the twisty tarmac for some ‘gentlemanly off-road’ in MD’s Greenbriar Forest.
We took the switchbacks up to Green Ridge Rd, standing on the pegs at times, more for the fun of it, than for need (lot's of roads to explore up there in the forest). This ridge rd traverses south along a narrow scenic ridge through the forest until meeting up with Pack Mule Rd for a few more switch backs down to Rt 51.
Next was lunch in Oldtown, Md at the School House Kitchen (it really is the old school cafeteria with a antique car restoration business in back
http://www.yelp.com/biz/schoolhouse-kitchen-oldtown ). Good food, cheap and lot's of room for lots of rider for future trips (check the hours to be sure they're open).
After lunch we’re off to WV via crossing the OldTown Toll Bridge (
http://www.oldtownbridge.com/) which costs $.50 to cross a narrow portion of the Potomac River (this is getting closer to the headwaters - look up Fairfax Stone) and on to Greensprings WV where we began our loop back on rustic WV backroads.
Springfield Rd and Spring Gap Rd twist and turn and finally blend into the back streets of PawPaw WV.
After a brief rest, we headed up the twisty Rt 9 for Berkley Springs to catch Rt 544 back to Hancock and home.
It turned into an all day outing with good eats, riding and macho discussions.
Thanks for joining me Scott.
