New Years Day Ride?

Postby JimVonBaden » Mon Nov 30, 2015 9:35 am

Who is up for a ride on New Years Day? We used to do this every year.

I am thinking starting around 9:00 AM at a local restaurant, then a 150-200 mile ride, rain or shine, with only snow and ice being the no-go!

I can easily come up with a meeting location for breakfast, and a route, but am wide open if you know of a route, ride, or place to meet.

Check in with ideas if you are interested.

I think I'd be up for a little New Years day ride action.

You know me as far as when, where and how long.

Standing by for details.

Jim, what restaurant do you have in mind? I'm putting this on the club calendar because it's a great idea. Should we start in Alexandria? I do not know of many good breakfast places. A chain would be okay. A couple of them are good.

I'll leave the start location to JVB, but a destination suggestion could be the 'Beans n the Belfry' coffee shop just over and under the bridge in Brunswick, Md http://www.beansinthebelfry.com. I sent them a note asking if they will be open... They have a lunch menus, decent coffee and a good selection of homemade cakes and pies ....

Got a nice note back from Hanna at Beans in the Belfry

"[b]Yes, we are open on New Years Day, January 1, 2016 from 10am to 6pm.
We look forward to your visit - it may even be cold then?!?
Happy Holidays and we are glad to see that you are starting the New Year right!

Ya...spent all of my time over on I-BMW...K-Bike forum. But recently had to sell my beloved KS, due to wrist injury. Great group of speed freaks over there, but with recent purchase of GSA (and good natured ribbing about my new ride also being suitable for plowing fields  ), I'd like to focus on activities a little closer to home. Ready to jump in and help out when needed.

And a Merry Christmas to all!

BTW...think I've hit the magic three post threshold :TheRepo:

Just a bump to ask where we should start the ride. I like Beans in the Belfry for a destination and vote for that. After we decide on a starting point, I'll update the club calendar. Meet to eat at 9:00 or side stands up at 9:00?
