The Ride to Avoid I-95

Postby bdimon » Mon Feb 16, 2015 11:05 pm

The March membership meeting tech day is Sunday, March 15. It ends at 1PM and then we go home.

If you look forward to riding home on I-95 after the meeting, I suggest you ride straight to a therapist. Alternatively, you can join a group who is only crazy about great roads. Join us on the long way around Quantico as we wiggle around the sprawl before ending up around Centreville.

Good plan. We live North of Mortons but avoid 95 at all costs! There are some great back roads between here and there!

See you at Morton's!

I'd sure like to find those roads. Even the slog down 15 & 17 is near requiring a therapy session!

After the meeting at Morton's let's grab some lunch and head north without getting on I-95. This route is about two and a half hours and 96 miles. It will end at the Manassas battlefield. It will be a beautiful day. Let's ride. What else will you do on a gorgeous Sunday? Your taxes?

Looks like a nice ride, due to time constraints, I'll stay on my side of the river...

I have an oil change and some aux lighting to wire. But would like to join if I finish in a timely manner.

I'm probably just coming down for the meeting don't really have a work to do on my airhead, no wait, I don't Have and airhead any more! and none of my other bikes needs anything done at the moment.
I was planning on somewhat similar route only going via 639 off Courthouse to Henderson then to Old Plank across 3 and continue on 610 up to Edwards Shop Road to Kellys Ford past Kellys Ford In, then cut over to Summerduck Rd to Remington. From there I was going to take Freemans Ford road into the back side of Warrenton, with a stop for a late lunch either at the pub at the Inn or a little sandwich shop on Main street in Warrenton that makes some really good Big sandwiches, depending on temps and/or timing. For those that want the end up a bit farther east and near 28/29 feel free join me.
