Gettysburg Riding Tour

Postby jcabiles » Thu Apr 10, 2014 11:28 am

Some friends from work are planning a ride to Gettysburgs. We will get there just before noon, have lunch (TBD) and spend the afternoon touring the battlefield.

Looking for suggestions on places to visit, tips/tricks/do's/don'ts. Only been there for a quick drive (caged) through and a stop at the Tower.

Stop at the tour center and rent/buy the tour tape/cd. It guidesyou through the whole tour at your own speed/pace...and tells you about each stop and what happened there. AND it's reusable! You can lend it to others, or use it the next time if you can't get everything in on your first visit.

There are six riders including myself that will be going to Gettysburg this Saturday, 3 May. PM me if interested in joining us. See the itinerary below.

08:30 – 9:00 Link up Exxon gas station – Rt 50/Centreville Rd (just East of Rt 50/Rt 28)
9:00 – 9:30 Enroute Leesburg
9:30 – 10:00 Bio Break/Link up Leesburg Food Lion, 720 S King St (Meet three riders)
10:00 – 10:50 Enroute Frederick
10:50 – 11:00 Bio Break Frederick, MD – Giant Gas Station, Liberty Rd/Monocacy Rd
11:00 – 12:00 Enroute Gettysburg
12:00 Lunch Gettysburg, PA - Appalachian Brewing Company
13:30 Gettysburg Battlefield Tour w/Licensed Battlefield Guide - The cost is $10 per person with an $80 minimum, so if we don’t get 8 people, we’ll have to chip in a little extra. Tips are encouraged at the conclusion of the tour, if warranted.
16:00 Depart for home Small group or individually

You have the option of not joining the group ride but meeting for lunch and/or the Battlefield Tour. Let me know for coordination purposes.

FYI. Rider experience in this group ranges from 4 - 28 years. I am the only Beemer in the group.

Timing unfortunately, is bad for me this weekend, it would be great to meet in person, but I am curious about the tour. Is it on your bike? or in a bus?
